  1. I am so glad you bought this fantastic house! And looks like you got the furniture too; doubly cool! And I love that you are making a website for it; the house deserves it. It is so elegant and inviting and dignified. Thank you for letting us share in this! The library is just superb, and I adore the colors in the kitchen. And all those CABINETS! Way cool! I will check back often to see how you are doing. The atomosphere of his house is just beautiful, at least in the pictures. I know you must really love it to be giving so much to it, and I know the house will love all of you back, and give back to you! Congratulations! There are so few of these beautiful, stately old homes left. Thanks for rescuing this one!

    1. It is such as amazing home, I was in love with it the minute I stepped inside! We were fortunate to be left with some of the furniture, totally cool! We will be updating everyone as much as possible. It is awesome how much support we are getting from the community! Thanks for the comment!

  2. I am so excited to see this. I love that you are restoring it to the original. I did, however, love the sunroom. The library is my favorite room. Thank you for sharing this adventure with us.

    1. We are keeping it as close to the original as possible, with a few upgrades! The sunroom is still there, it is my favorite room in the house! However, we did remove the screened in porch, which was not in the original design. New updates will be coming soon! Thanks for the support!!

    1. I have been told that the house was barely visible from the road because of all the over grown brush. Now she stands tall and I doubt anyone could miss it when driving by!
Everyone in the neighborhood has been so welcoming and supportive, we are so glad to be moving to such a great street! Thanks for following!

    2. Kathy, are you related to the music teacher with the last name Wescott. I had an aunt whose middle name was Wescott after the music teacher who taught many of the children of Lema and Peter Howe.

I love this house, I don’t think it needs too much work decoratively, I love her just as she is. Shabby Chic

  8. My mom and stepdad live next door. For years and years that swimming pool was nothing but a breeding ground for mosquitos and HUGE bull frogs and lizards. We are so happy to have somebody in the house who is going to bring it to its full potential!

    1. Yes! I have witnessed the HUGE bull frogs! I am glad their breeding ground is now empty, and will be covered until next year when we hope to have it restored and in service!

  9. HALLELUJAH that you are doing this to my grandparents home. The attic was a play area my twin brother and I did enjoy as children… it it was just an attic full of old things and the walls were covered with pictures of our ancestors we had never met…old trunks full of old clothes…and Pop cured hams hung from the ceiling…you may have a greased spot on the floor that is proof of that adventure of his…haha. the little room at the foot of the stairs going up to the attic was the sewing room. I loved that room too!! It was full of light, and every little girl likes the button box. There was a wonderful black lady who sewed all the curtains, drapes, ski poo covers, and clothes too…this was her work space…but my mama and Meme also both worked in that room. Nothing was wasted. I learned how to darn socks from my Meme. Lace, ribbons, trim, feathers, buttons, everything was salvaged from clothes and used again…and kept in the sewing room. I too loved the library. It was ESPECIALLY inviting when Pop would build a fire there. There were big picture books of birds and animals..thank you for rescuing this home I will always oh so love!!!!

i am sorry to say I lost him this past September. I wish you luck with this property. You clearly have the passion and drive.
